Music is Beautiful

So I know that I have been posting a lot of videos lately, but I promise pictures will come soon. Lately stumbleupon.com has been my obsession and this has been my recent discovery. Oh how beautiful music can be.

Dreams Come True

There is nothing more amazing than watching a little child's dream come true. Everyone has their own dream and for this little girl, Sophia Grace Brownlee, it was to meet Nicki Minaj. This girl is 8 years old and has the most amazing voice. When you watch the video you will hear her sing the bridge and it gives me goosebumps every time. I know a lot of people probably would not want their little 8 year old girl learning a song by Nicki Minaj, but her reaction is so priceless and beautiful that I felt it was necessary to share.
Enjoy.

{PS. Here is the original video if you would like to watch it also.}

Post Secret

Post Secret has recently come out with an app {which I totally plan on getting once I get the iPhone} and so now people can just take pictures and upload their secret, totally anonymously. This is one of the ones that was posted. It has to be one of the sweetest things I have seen in a long time. Oh how I love Post Secret.

Women are Beautiful

My classes are the real inspiration for a lot of my posts. Today I had to read an article for my family foundations class. It was an article written by Elder Neal A. Maxwell called "The Women of God". I just think it was a very beautiful article. Women if you are ever feeling like you don't matter, just read this, and everything will be okay.

My favorite quote is, "You rock a sobbing child without wondering if today's world is passing you by, because you know you hold tomorrow tightly in your arms."

The World is Beautiful

So let's take care of it.
I am in a developing world class, and lately we have been learning a lot about the ways to help the planet and those in poverty. We have all the resources to help them, so why aren't we doing anything. Well in a video by Hans Rosling, he says that the world has to accept the fact that they aren't given an advantage over the rest of the countries. It is important for us to know that we are not alone. Let's start being the change the world needs to see.

Beautiful Suggestions

Being a good person is one of the most beautiful things that we can all be. I think in this world sometimes we get so caught up in our own lives, we forget to be a good human being to people around us. So let us start going that little extra mile, even if it is a stranger. What seems so tiny to us might be huge to somebody else.

5 Lessons About the Way We Treat People

1 – First Important Lesson – Cleaning Lady.
During my second month of college, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions until I read the last one:
“What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?”
Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50’s, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade.
“Absolutely, ” said the professor. “In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say “hello.”
I’ve never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.
2. – Second Important Lesson – Pickup in the Rain
One night, at 11:30 p.m., an older African Americanwoman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway trying to endure a lashing rain storm. Her car had broken down and she desperately needed a ride. Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car. A young white man stopped to help her, generally
uheard of in those conflict-filled 1960’s. The man took her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a taxicab. She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his address and thanked him. Seven days went by and a knock came on the man’s door. To his surprise, a giant console color TV was delivered to his home. A special note was attached.
It read:
“Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the other night. The rain drenched not only my clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along. Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband’s bedside just before he passed away… God bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving others.”
Sincerely, Mrs. Nat King Cole.
3 – Third Important Lesson – Always remember those who serve.
In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10-year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him. How much is an ice cream sundae?” he asked. “Fifty cents,” replied the waitress. The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it.
“Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?” he inquired. By now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing impatient. ” Thirty-five cents,” she brusquely replied. The little boy again counted his coins. “I’ll have the plain ice cream,” he said.
The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left. When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five pennies..
You see, he couldn’t have the sundae, because he had to have enough left to leave her a tip.
4 – Fourth Important Lesson. – The obstacle in Our Path.
In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king’s wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The
peasant learned what many of us never understand!
Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.
5 – Fifth Important Lesson – Giving When it Counts…
Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who was suffering from a rare & serious disease. Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness. The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the little boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister. I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, “Yes I’ll do it if it will save her.” As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed
next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheek. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded. He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, “Will I start to die right away”.
Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his blood in order to save her.

“Work like you don’t need the money, love like you’ve never been hurt, and dance like you do when nobody’s watching.”

Paper is Beautiful

During one of my searches on Stumble Upon, I cam across this art gallery where the artists used only paper for all of their pieces. Its amazing the beautiful things that can come out of something so simple.

Little Beautiful Community

Though the Post Secret community isn't exactly little, it definitely is beautiful. The first picture was a secret that was sent into Post Secret. The second picture is a response to the first. It is amazing how powerful and inspirational Post Secret has become.

Beautiful Activities

So while looking for a new post on here I stumbled upon these videos.

3 guys, 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles, an exploding volcano, 2 cameras and almost a terabyte of footage...all to turn 3 ambitious linear concepts based on movement, learning, and food...into 3 beautiful and hopefully compelling short films...
{I thought their explanation was too good to not put in}

Please enjoy these wonderful videos.

Don't Color on the Walls

Something that we have been told since we were little. Here are a few artists who decided to not listen.

{I know this isn't technically drawing on the wall, but I loved the creativity way too much to not put it on}

Sometimes it is okay to break the rules, think of all the wonderful pieces we wouldn't have if people didn't share their talents where ever they could.

Laughing is Beautiful

So up at school, pretty much everyone knows about Kid History, but when I came back home almost no one had ever heard about it. So I am here to spread the beauty of laughter to everyone!

{This is only Episode 1, there are 5 episodes if you would like to look it up and continue watching the awesomeness that is Kid History}

Random Collection of Beautiful Music

So I know that I have been out of commission for a while, especially with my songs of the week...so here is a little make up session.

So I debated on whether or not this song should be on here, because it is finding love in a club. But then I thought, love is beautiful no matter where its found, right?
Please enjoy Best Love Song by T-Pain and Chris Brown
[P.S. The video is a little weird, at the beginning so go ahead and ignore that until the song starts ha]

{Awake My Soul by Mumford and Sons}

Alright so this is going to be a little change in pace than the last one. One of my favorite lines in this song is, " Where you invest your love, you invest your life." If this is true, then we should invest in something that is beautiful, because ultimately, we are "made to meet our maker." Whoever you think your maker is, we should show them that we are worthy to return back and that we accomplished something in this life.

Here is another little twist in the line up.
Better Together by Jack Johnson

It is beautiful to find that one person that can make you be a better version of yourself.

Tell the World...

I'm Coming Home

Las Vegas might not be everyone's favorite place, but to me it is home, and for that it is the most beautiful place I know. There is some place that everyone calls home and it might not be where your family is or your friends. I think home is a place that makes you feel most comfortable, for me that is Las Vegas. When I see the night sky lit up with all these fancy lights, it makes my heart smile.

No Need to Wait Anymore...

SONG OF THE WEEK!

This week's song is: Satellite by Lelia Broussard
So my friend, who is super crazy into music, posted this video on my wall. I think she is absolutely wonderful! She definitely has a unique voice, and that is what is so beautiful. She doesn't really go with the mainstream pop, I hope she stays this way.

Sunday Secret Special

So I couldn't pick which one I liked the best so I have two...a little special treat for all my followers out there.

There is something really sweet about this secret. I love the fact that there is someone out there that could have possibly got that letter, or maybe it did make its way all the way to heaven. Either way, it is beautiful.

On the back of this secret it says, "It is the opposite of everything I have known."
There is not much else I can say about this, I just think its wonderful.

Little Beautiful Song of the Week

Okay so I know that I have no been very good at this, but I promise once school is over I will be an excellent blogger!

The song of the week is: Happy by Never Shout Never

So I am aware that a lot of my songs are love songs, but I think one of the most beautiful things in this world is love. We would have a lot less problems if everyone just loved a little more.

Beauty Overload

There is a girl in my graphic design class
{I am sorry for the amount of things that come from this class ha}
and she has this Tumbler where she just gets all these nifty pictures. So today
{when I should have been paying attention in class}
 I went through her website and found some pictures I thought were wonderful examples of beauty. I thought about splitting it up into two posts, but what is the fun in that?

So I am aware this isn't what you would call a "beautiful" picture, but I think the power in this little message IS beautiful. "The Future is Unwritten", it just leaves so much room for the creation and discovery of more beautiful things.

Trying to figure out who YOU are is sometimes the most challenging thing we could ever do, but once we get there, it is the most beautiful thing we could ever do.

We are in a world where money and what the world wants usually takes priority. It is good to sometimes take a break and find the one thing that your heart wants.

I think it is absolutely beautiful how someone is able to take a black bow tie, and make this many different variations of it. It is the simplest things that, at times, are the most beautiful.

I believe this picture kind of sums up the "Beauty Project" I've got going here. Sitting in an office or a classroom all day we can forget what is out in the world. We can get so focused on the ultimate goal we never take a break to look around. Maybe...just maybe, if we take a step back and observe the beauty the Earth has to offer, we might find more than we could ever have hoped for.

I think snail mail can be the most uplifting and beautiful thing. Mailing letters is kind of a lost activity with email and Facebook messaging. Why wait 3 days when they can have it in 3 seconds? Sometimes...it is worth the wait.

Only then are we open to experience ALL the beauty that God has created.

I thought that this was a wonderful way of showing how each side of the brain works. The analytical side VS the creative side. It is actually an advertisement for Mercedes, what a beautiful way to showcase our brain.

"And come out the other side where people walk upside down."
{quote from Alice in Wonderland...the cartoon}
Oh the beauty that comes from people's imagination and curiosity.

The Beauty in Creativity

So I know that I have not been the best poster for the last few days, but I only have 2 more weeks of school then the blog will be in full swing!
Well here is another video that I saw in my graphic design class. It is a whole video that talks about creativity and how it is copied or just redone to make something more useful. I think it is awesome to see the beautiful things that come out of creative people, and where they get their inspiration from. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Also it is a bit long so make sure you have some time if you are going to watch it. When the credits come, skip to 7:42 because there is more and it is pretty interesting.

Late Sunday Secret

Sorry I am aware this is late, it has been quite the crazy weekend...but here it is, my favorite secret from this weeks Secret Sunday...

I absolutely LOVED the message in this one. On the back it says, "I feel like I have to wear it." I think we have all been victims of trying to hide what we really think is beautiful. I hope this girl finally decides to do what she thinks is beautiful, instead of what the world thinks.

Spotlight Birthday

What is more beautiful than birthdays? How about my sister who is a mother and wife? Yup, I think a mix of all of those things makes this a special spotlight birthday post for my dear sister Courtney.
Here are the 10 reasons why I think my sister is beautiful!

1. She can proudly say that she was called "Timmy" for a good portion of her childhood, and laugh about it.
2. Courtney probably does not know this, but I would cut my hair short too just so I could be like her. I really looked up to her for a lot of the stuff that she did.

3. She will play Avatar: The Last Airbender with me.
4. She is the most amazing sister who is so willing to help me with anything, and put my name on any present, since I never have money when I'm in school.

5. She doesn't need a lot to be happy. Just her family, and I think that is something that I admire most. Nothing really brings Courtney down. She just does what she needs to do for her family and lets the rest just sort of fall into place.

6. She is a beautiful mother and wife, who is raising two of the cutest and most beautiful kids in the world!

7. Courtney is also an awesome scrapbooker. When I went to go visit her I was very impressed by the amount of books she had gone through and the pictures that were in them. It really was beautiful.

8. She doesn't get embarrassed by me. Courtney actually thinks the stuff I say is funny, even if it is about poop. She also will probably not be embarrassed by this picture and I think that is awesome
{Candice on the other hand might...ha}

9. When we were little Courtney would always be willing to play cool games with me and my friends, such as poor, or candlestick tag. Even now that we are older, she is the best at keeping our jokes alive.

{Inside jokes may follow}
"Honey, I'm Home!" "I'm not playing house!"
Gran Gran, I know Gran Gran
"You're not fat, you're beautiful" {dear courtney, this is a new one, I just added it ha}
....And die!

10. Well I think this picture pretty much says it all. My beautiful sister Courtney.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
